I checked with our Evidence Management Coordinator, and at the Jackson PD, she keeps everything for homicides and felony CSCs indefinitely because the science behind DNA evidence is ever-changing. With that being said, I feel it coincides with the record retention for these types of incidents, which is currently at 110 years.
