The meeting was called to order by President Linda Carpenter
at 8:55 a.m.

Children presented by the Office of Juvenile Justice &
Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP).
September 2-4, 2009 – Location to be determined -
Effective Team Leadership & Problem Children – presentation by
Lou Bender.
Pam Mayer has been working on opportunities for conference
locations. She has been in contact with the Motor City
Conference Center and Double Tree Suites, both located in
Detroit. She is in the process of negotiating hotel & conference
pricing. Discussion took place in regards to whether this was a
favorable location for the September conference or if the
membership would prefer to go somewhere else. Pam will also look
into other possible locations.
November 6, 2009 – Novi PD - FOIA update – Tom Quasarano,
Attorney General’s Office.

OLD BUSINESS:
Corky Jerick of Eaton Co. Sheriff’s Dept. won the name the
newsletter contest and the first edition of the "Lerma Link"
has been emailed to all LERMA members. Anyone with newsworthy
items, please forward them to Carol Wright – Troy PD.
President, Linda Carpenter and some of the other Board
Members attended the MACP Mid-Winter Conference to promote
LERMA and increase the association’s membership. Linda reports
that many of the Chiefs that stopped by the LERMA booth have
records personnel that are already members and expressed their
pride for the job they do and appreciation for the knowledge
gained by being members of LERMA. A raffle was also held where
a one-year’s membership to LERMA was given away.
NEW BUSINESS:
Shelley Pavlinak volunteered to represent LERMA as a member
of the LEIN User Workgroup. Shelley reports that they had
their first meeting and that they will be doing LEIN Audits
again. Four new LEIN auditors have been assigned to perform
this task; TAC training updates will take place and a new
possible addition to LEIN would be a Jail Incarcerations
alert.
ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was concluded at 9:10 a.m. with a welcome from
meeting host, Jeff Baldwin and the introduction of Janis Heugel
from Mt. Pleasant PD for her presentation update on Developing a
Records Manual.
